The exhibition "presentation | representation" presents ten positions in contemporary German photography. After a long period during which the first generation of Bernd Becher's former students from Kunstakademie Dusseldorf left their mark on the field of photography in both the national and international art world, a lively and heterogeneous photography scene has emerged, one which cannot be said to stem from any single educational institution or region or be assigned to any predominant style.

This exhibition on contemporary German Photography from the Institut fur Auslandsbeziehungen aims to take a cross section at this juncture, bringing the works of ten photographers into dialogue. The works ranges from pictures generated purely by digital imaging to series of photography to series of photographs by artists who feel indebted to the authorial tradition. The different approaches of the artistic works, which examine the reference to reality, are presented and juxtaposed, highlighting the artists' individual ways of finding their images.
