				      <title>May 19th, 2012 - Illucynation - Opening the Mind's Eye To Sophie's World</title>
				      <link>http://www.whatshappening.sg/events/index.php&#63;com=detail&amp;eID=63613</link>
<description>tcc – The Connoisseur Concerto is pleased to present Illucynation: Opening the Mind’s Eye To Sophie’s World, a painting exhibition by three talented Singapore-based artists, Sarah Bridget, Rudy Djoharnaen and Erzan Adam based on the popular philosophical Norwegian novel ‘Sophie’s World’ by Jostein Gaarder. An assembly of their abstract illustrations will be displayed in tcc ‘The Gallery’ from 5th April to 2nd July 2012 at 51 Circular Road.

The exhibition is intended to rouse the interest of ordinary teenagers and parents by painting a vivid representation of the book to motivate the public towards living in Sophie’s shell and deliberate slightly more about the seemingly regular world they reside in. While intended for young adults, ‘Sophie’s World’ is an intriguing read for all ages, serving as a reminder or introduction to the intricate essence that is philosophy.

The depictions themselves are entertaining, colourful, accessible and most importantly, contain snippets of phrases which follow Jostein's ethos of writing from a child's perspective, exploring their sense of astonishment about the world around them.

				      <title>May 19th, 2012 - Ping Pong Go-Round with Table-Tennis Athletes from our Youth Development Squad</title>
				      <link>http://www.whatshappening.sg/events/index.php&#63;com=detail&amp;eID=63491</link>
<description>Singaporean contemporary artist Lee Wen has created an artwork entitled Ping Pong Go-Round where Sports and Art come together in the spirit of fun, creativity and community bonding. A game with a minimum of two players, Ping Pong can be thought of as a dialogue between two players on opposite sides. Instead of a rectangular Ping Pong Table, Ping Pong Go-Round is a donut-shaped table that enables a player to engage in a game (or dialogue) with as many players as possible, regardless of gender and age. Pit your skills against the boys and girls from the Singapore Table Tennis Association‘s Youth Development Squad as they take on a table that they themselves have never experienced before!</description>
